Meet the Instructor

Hi, I’m Heather, a San Diego-based mom, artist, and certified ISR instructor. I live here with my husband and our two young children, and like many parents, water safety became a top priority for me once I had kids.

Before coming to ISR, I spent two decades as an artist, working in both woodworking and ceramics, and have run my own ceramics business for the last ten years. I also taught woodworking for a number of years, and I've always found purpose in helping others learn hands-on skills.

My journey into ISR instruction began after enrolling my son in ISR lessons two years in a row — first as a floater, and then to learn swim-float-swim. Watching his confidence grow and knowing that he had the skills to keep himself safer in the water made a lasting impression on me. That experience inspired me to become an instructor myself—so I could share those same life-saving benefits with other families.

I'm passionate about helping children develop not just water survival skills, but also the confidence that comes with them. I look forward to working with you and your child!
