INVESTMENT

ISR lessons are an investment in your child’s safety in and around the water. Swimming is a necessary life skill that every infant and toddler should learn, especially given the fact that drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 4. At Float First, we believe that self-rescue swimming lessons should be a priority for any child who spends time anywhere that has a pool, pond, or other body of water.

Our pricing is designed to be transparent and fair — so you know exactly what to expect when enrolling your child.

National ISR Registration Fee

This fee is required for ALL ISR students, both new and returning. It is a non-refundable fee paid directly to Infant Swimming Resource (ISR), not to the instructor.

  • New Student Registration: $105

  • Returning Student Annual Update: $40

This national registration fee covers the cost of screening by the ISR Registration Evaluation Team (RET) to determine the physical and developmental readiness of each child. Your instructor will email you the link to complete the national registration once lessons have been scheduled.

Lesson Fees

Lessons are always one-on-one, for 10 min each day,

5 days per week — Monday - Friday.

NEW STUDENTS

Session Fee: $900/session (Sessions last 6-7 weeks**)

Depending on their age and developmental readiness, your child will either learn to Roll Back to Float OR they will learn the full Swim-Float-Swim sequence.

**These skills take most children an average of 6 weeks to successfully master. Some children pick them up more quickly, and may therefore graduate from the session early. Other children take a little bit longer to become fully skilled. Either way, we never release a student until they can self-rescue in some way, regardless of the time frame.

RETURNING STUDENTS

Session Fee: $900/session (Sessions last 6-7weeks) — for children who have previously completed Roll Back to Float as infants, and now need to learn Swim-Float-Swim.

OR

Session Fee: $450/session (Sessions last 3 weeks) — for students who have completed Swim-Float-Swim previously and need to refresh their skills. Please contact Heather at heather.mccalla@infantswim.com to plan and schedule refresher lessons.

Maintenance Lessons: $25/lesson - usually scheduled 2x/week (either M/W or T/Th). Maintenance lessons are only available for students who have completed lessons within the past 3 months. Maintenance lessons are used to keep your child’s skills fine tuned and sharp so that they don’t develop any “bad habits”. Please contact Heather at heather.mccalla@infantswim.com to plan and schedule maintenance lessons.

Discounts, deposits, and Payments

Sibling discount: For two children swimming in the same full-length session — $150 off/session applied to the oldest child (example: $1,650 total/session for two siblings enrolled in the same 6-8 week session). Discounts will be manually applied to your balance after session deposits are paid.

Deposit & Payment Terms

  • A $300 non-refundable deposit is required to secure each child’s time slot.

  • Time slots are not reserved until the deposit is received.

  • Remainder of the session balance is due on or before the session start date.

  • Check, Cash, Credit Card, ApplePay, Venmo, and Zelle are all accepted - Checks made payable to Heather McCalla.

  • We understand that paying the full session balance at the start of lessons may present a financial challenge for some families. If this is the case, please contact Heather at heather.mccalla@infantswim.com prior to your session start date to discuss weekly or bi-weekly payment plan options.

ISR self-rescue lessons give your child the ability to float, rest, breathe, and swim to safety independently — skills that can save their life if traditional safety systems and barriers breakdown. Beyond safety, children who complete ISR lessons often show increased confidence, improved problem-solving skills, and are generally more willing to try new activities and sports.

  • Traditional swim lessons for infants and small children are primarily focused on socialization and play rather than safety, survival, and independent swimming. Many parents come to ISR after spending hundreds of dollars on traditional swim programs, frustrated because their child doesn’t have any discernible skills after weeks, months, or even years of lessons.

ISR is nationally recognized as the safest swim program for infants and children, and the ISR Self-Rescue program teaches your child to actually SWIM independently. Instead of a 30 minute group lesson, where each child gets maybe 5-10 minutes with the instructor, ISR lessons are exclusively one-on-one, with a highly trained instructor focused solely on your child’s skills and safety. With occasional maintenance and refresher lessons, they will retain their ISRSelf-Rescue® skills indefinitely, leading to a lifetime of competence and confidence in the water.

  • In order to become certified, every ISR instructor worldwide completes an 8-week intensive academic and in-water training program with an ISR Master Instructor. During training, I received 120 hours of hands-on, in-water experience working with ACTUAL students, as well as extensive hours of academic training in anatomy, physiology, child psychology, behavior and development, sensorimotor learning, and how each relates to the aquatic environment. Every instructor also maintains CPR and First Aid certifications, and undergoes an annual recertification process to maintain and update our skills.

  • Based on our research, we know that refresher lessons are important because children change so much both cognitively and physically during the first 0-5 years of life. It is important that their water survival skills grow with their bodies. Frequency depends on the child's age, growth rate, skill level and confidence level. The goal of refresher lessons is to help your child adjust their new body size and weight to their existing skill level. Your instructor will work with your child to help fine-tune his or her aquatic experience to assist with building efficiency, which will result in self-confidence. This is especially important if your child has not been able to practice any appropriate aquatic skill between seasons.

  • Lesson times vary by session. Please visit the upcoming sessions page to see what options are available. If the dates or times do not work with your schedule, please reach out to me. I will try to accommodate you as best I can, or I can refer you to another certified ISR instructor who may better serve you and your family.

  • If you are ready to reserve a time slot for your child in one of the upcoming sessions, go ahead and click the ENROLL NOW button at the top of the page. You will be guided through the scheduler, and prompted to pay your $300 non-refundable session deposit to reserve your time slot. If you have any questions before scheduling, or if you do not see a time slot that works for your family, please contact me. I am happy to help answer any questions you may have.

  • It's important to note that 6 weeks is the average amount of time that it takes most children to learn these skills. Some kids need less time, and occasionally, some kids need more. Often, this is due to a child's personality and overall temperament. If a child requires more time to demonstrate reliable skills (not due to frequent absences), more time will be carved out for them, likely in a subsequent session.
